The Ivy Street School was founded in 1993 for adolescents with brain injuries and other neurological challenges. The school is located in Brookline, Massachusetts in a residential neighborhood a few miles from downtown Boston.

The Ivy Street School serves students between the ages of 13 and 22 and offers both residential and day programs. Presently, the average class size is 7 and the student to teacher ratio is 3:1. It is a year-round program.

The Ivy Street School staff includes special education teachers, clinical and restorative therapists, vocational counselors and residential staff. The curriculum offers a variety of services to the students including occupational therapy, speech work, nursing care, and adaptive physical education. The Ivy Street School also has a culinary arts program and a vocational program aimed to help prepare for life after graduation. Students have also worked with artists such as community muralist and art therapist Tova Speter, and in 2012 participated in the Shooting Beauty project with photographer Courtney Bent

Ivy Street students work and volunteer off campus at Boston University, animal shelters, local hospitals, day care centers and local restaurants. The school also offers community field trips and events. Annually students put on a talent show called Extravaganza hosted at the Wheelock Family Theatre.
